This native shrub does well in full sun to part shade and is tolerant of a variety of soil types. A wide range of creatures, including humans, enjoy the nuts. Showy catkins in spring and dark green serrated foliage in summer make it an attractive plant. It will sucker from the roots, so some management may be needed.
