Zones 3-9
Native through much of the US, elderberries typically occur on streambanks, moist woodlands, thickets, fence rows, and other edge habitats. Shrubs may sucker once established. Small white flowers give way to clusters of black elderberry fruits (drupes) in late summer. Fruits are used to make jams, jellies, and wines, and are also enjoyed by a variety of wildlife.
